The Love Of God 1

The love of God ought to be our favorite subject, as it was of the Apostle John. He experienced the Love of Christ while in His physical presence for more than 3 years. The main evidences of God*s love, the death of Jesus for our sins, His forgiveness and His dwelling in our hearts are just as available to us as they were to the Apostle John. John wrote about it in A.D. 33 and about 57 years later in A.D. 90. I believe it was his favorite subject for all of those 57 years. I believe it was also the favorite subject of many of the commentators whose comments I hope to share with you. The love of our all-powerful, all-wise and all-knowing Creator is the greatest and most important thing any man woman or child can personally possess.

John 15:13: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 13:21: When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. 22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. 23 Now there was leaning on Jesus* bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. 25 He then lying on Jesus* breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

John 19:26: When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

John 20:2: Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

John 21:7: Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher*s coat unto him,

John 21:20: Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?

1 John 2:5: But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 8:37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
